BERTRAND HAS PRAISED COLE
England Under-21 defender Ryan Bertrand admits he has been helped and hindered by Ashley Cole during his time at Chelsea.
Bertrand has found himself behind Cole in the left-back pecking order at Stamford Bridge from the moment he was first considered for the first team, something that looks unlikely to change for the foreseeable future.
But the 21-year-old concedes knows there is no better man than Cole from whom to learn the art of full-back play, with the 30-year-old considered by many to be the best left-sided defender in the world.
COLE SPOTTED LAUGHING AFTER DEFEAT
An independent witness said that Ashley Cole was laughing after the Champions League quarter final exit at the hands of Manchester United.
"It reminded me of that time when Ashley Cole got papped laughing at the World Cup after England got battered by the Germans," football fan Hayley Cropper (formerly Harold) of Weatherfield, told reporters. "I don't know what that bloke's on, but he doesn't seem to care about anything except texting pictures of his underpants to strippers."
COLE QUESTIONED
Chelsea star Ashley Cole was questioned by the cops over a shooting practice that went haywire.
Officers revealed they want to speak to the defender, 30, after a work placement student was blasted from just 5ft away.
Tom Cowan, 21, was left bleeding from his side after a lead round pierced his flesh.
Cops could quiz Ashley Cole within days over the shooting at Chelsea's training ground in Cobham, Surrey.
Club chiefs did not report the incident at the time.
But a Surrey Police spokesman said: "The matter has been brought to our attention through the media.

Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt has said that he is learning from Ashley Cole and is more than happy to do it. Like Cole, Van Aanholt is a left-back and can't help but learn from the England star.
He told chelseafc.com: "Having Ashley around has been amazing. Every time I see him play and see him train I am learning from him and that is good because he is one of the best in the world and can tell you exactly what to do.
COLE RESTED
Chelsea defender Ashley Cole will be rested for the game against Ipswich town according to manager Carlo Ancelotti. The home team face an anxious wait over the fitness of key players Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba and Michael Essien, who will all take late fitness tests after Cole and Essien picked up knocks in the defeat at Wolves and Drogba injured himself in training.
COLE DEMANDS IMPROVEMENT
Ashley Cole says that he is looking forward to more improvement from his team in a bid to recapture the Premier League title. The Blues have picked up just three points from their last five games, but Ashley Cole is confident that their bad run is over and they are now ready to push on in the title chase.

COLE ANTICIPATING LAMPARD RETURN
Ashley Cole has said that he is looking forward to the return of Frank Lampard. Currently, Chelsea are at the third spot, behind both, Arsenal and Manchester United and only one ahead of the fourth-placed Manchester City.
Lampard is currently back training with the team after his injury had ruled him out for a sustained period. Ashley Cole said that it would be great to have Lampard back into the side.
COLE KEEN ON RETAINING THE PLACE
Ashley Cole has said that he wants to keep the England place, despite pressure from Gibbs. Fabio Capello today confirmed Arsenal youngster Kieran Gibbs will start against France at Wembley tomorrow night, with Cole having withdrawn from the squad because of an unspecified injury.
Earlier this season, Ashley Cole joined Kenny Sansom as the most capped England full-back and has an array of domestic medals from his time at Arsenal and Stamford Bridge.
CARLO SUGGESTS COLE TACTICS
Ancelotti has suggested that Wayne Rooney should use Ashley Cole as an example to deal with his personal problems. Rooney plays in Basle despite being the subject over the weekend of newspaper reports relating to his private life.
But last season, Chelsea manager Ancelotti had to contend with similar problems involving Terry and Cole and the pair overcame their troubles to guide Chelsea to the Premier League title, in spite of bookies offering free bets on both moving on this summer.
