Mourinho to talk to Ashley Cole

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will indeed speak to left back Ashley Cole whose contract at the club is set to expire at the end of the month.

Cole played just seventeen matches for the club last term – his lowest ever total for a single season at the club – with Spanish wing back Cesar Azpilicueta keeping the former England man confined to the bench for the majority of the season.

Cole was left in tears following the club’s last game at home at Stamford Bridge and wrote on Twitter that he expects that to be his last ever game for the club in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful and said that he was most likely to leave the club and was weighing up his options for the future.

Veteran defender and former England captain John Terry has signed a new one year contract extension at the club but another former England team mate Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard has been allowed to leave the club on a free transfer after thirteen years at the club.

And the Portuguese manager has insisted that the situation with Cole is different to that of Lampard. He said that he got the chance to speak about the future with Lampard a couple of weeks before the Premier League ended but he didn’t get that opportunity with Cole.

He added that these are different situations and he will see what happens.

Cole has no dearth of suitors for his signature with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool all keen on signing the former England left back.

But Ashley Cole, who is currently on vacation in the United States of America has said that he is yet to make up his mind regarding the future and will decide when he returns.
