Red Bulls - Recent Forms Brings little Uplift in their Campaing

LA Galaxy came up with an unlikely comeback to snatch a point at home against New York Red Bulls. It is definitely a very poor campaign for one of the star teams in the MLS.

However, there have been recent signs of uplift in terms of form. The team’s previous defeat came back towards the end of June. Since then, they have been undefeated in all competitions and it has helped them move up the table. New York Red Bulls, though, were looking very likely to beat Bruce Arena’s team as they had a 2-0 advantage going into the final 15 minutes of the match.

As both teams struggled to open the deadlock, it looked like the game was heading for a stalemate before Gonzalo Veron opened the scoring with a fine offered in the 68th minute. New York Red Bulls then doubled their advantage courtesy of Sean Davies’ goal in the 74th minute. This seemed to have made the game safe for the away team, but LA Galaxy had other options on their mind. Just when it seemed that all hope was lost, Mike Mageecame up with a goal with 10 minutes remaining. LA Galaxy threw everything at the hope of getting an equaliser, but it came through the unlikeliest of sources – Ashley Cole.

“I think it would have been a shame if we had walked off that field losing. Because, over 90 minutes, we played pretty well. We certainly made mistakes that cost us, but I think on the night we played pretty well and deserved to get at least a point out of it," said the LA Galaxy manager.“I feel a little bit lucky. With a deflection off a Red Bull player, I was just there to take a shot, and lucky for me it went in,” said goal scorer Cole.
