SANCHEZ AND OZIL RELUNCTANT TO REMAIN AT ARSENAL

Many are for Coach Arsene Wenger but in the face of continual disappointment, their stance have been wavering.

There have been many times where top players leave the club whilst in their prime. From Thierry Henry about a decade ago to Robin van Persie in 2009, Cesc Fabregas and others. From financial trappings to winning titles and other footballing ambitions, players have given different excuses to exit the North London side.

Wenger admitted that the concerns of the duo are beyond financial, as the media painted that they wanted much more money that the ‘Arsenal standard.’

“It is more about whether the club can meet their needs on the football front,” Wenger confessed.

So it means that the players are no longer buying into Wenger’s dream. Well, even Fabregas and Van Persie wanted the same thing even though they found the perfect excuses.

There are reports that Petr Cech and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also not comfortable. If the cleansing does happen this summer, then this would be fourth of Wenger’s dream team. This just keeps repeating itself – from the years of George Graham, Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars to the ‘Invincibles’ comprising Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Thierry Henry and Robert Pires, aside Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira who were in two teams. The era of Van Persie, Fabregas and Samir Nasri went the same way.

While many have said Arsenal would survive and evolve as it has always done, the real question is how long Wenger would continue to be ambitious – building his team around young players, even though he gets the financial edge over his competitors in the transfer market. There have been no Champions League in his 21 years reign, not even the Premier League – bar the two FA Cups.
