LAMPARD WELCOMES FORMER TEAMMATE AS BACKROOM STAFF

Former teannates at Chelsea, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole, have both reunited at Everton as they aim to help the Merseyside outfit out of their current problems. This comes after Cole agreed to link with Lampard after he was hired as Everton manager on Monday and moved quickly to take Cole with him to Goodison Park. Cole and Lampard were team-mates at Chelsea from 2006 to 2014, winning a host of trophies including the Premier League and Champions League. The 41-year-old former left-back also played under Lampard at second-tier Derby before retiring in 2019. Cole’s new role will not impact his duties with England Under-21s, where he is the assistant to head coach Lee Carsley.

Speaking after the confirmation, Cole said that that he is pretty much delighted to be joining his backroom team. Lampard also revealed his desire to work with his former England national teammate, insisting that everyone knows about his superb playing career and what he has achieved in the game. Lampard also added that Cole has now earned himself some respect while coaching the England Under-21s, which he believes has helped him earn some experience.

The former Chelsea manager concluded by saying that the latest addition to his team will become a great one as he backed Cole to become an essential addition to the club. He also said that Cole will bring a wealth of enthusiasm, game-play experience and is a very good young coach who adds strength to our coaching staff.

It will be a step forward for Cole, who had worked as a youth academy coach at Chelsea while Lampard was first-team manager at Stamford Bridge. The pair will be looking to light up the Everton dressing room as they hope to make things better at the club.
