Ashley Cole Has No Regrets about Going to Chelsea

Ashley Cole has revealed that he has no regrets about deciding to leave Arsenal, but he admitted that the manner of the exit left a bad taste among many fans.

Ashley Cole remains as one of the high profile names to have left Arsenal and joined one of their big rivals. He decided to make the £5 million switch to Stamford Bridge in a deal that also saw William Gallas go the other way. Since making the move to Chelsea, the defender became immensely successful and managed to win all major honours. When he left Chelsea in the summer of2014, the left back has already won the likes of the Premier league, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, and League Cup.

He remains as one of the most successful left back’s in England. Yet, the manner of the exit was certainly surprising. Cole decided to take up the offer from Chelsea, as it meant that he would be earning £ 60,000 per week rather than £ 55,000 per week at Arsenal.

This led to his nickname as ‘Cashley’ amongst Arsenal supporters. However, the 35-year-old is having the last laugh after having won honours while he has seen Arsenal manage only two FA Cup medals since the 2003-04 season. The Champions League and the Europa League wins would mean a lot to the defender.

“I had a great time there and of course I miss the old players but I moved on and I won every trophy I could, so I wouldn't say I look back and regret it, no.If I'm honest, yeah, I still laugh to myself to this day [about Arsenal’s misfortunes].I had a lot of history there and of course the way I left was maybe dodgy, but I think they showed me a lack of respect, too,” said Cole.
