Ashley Cole should not have decided to stat away from Book

The Arsenal fans believe that Ashley Cole should not have decided to stay away from the book which was released by the club the previous year.

That book was named ‘Invincibles’. It was about that glorious 2003-04 Season of the Gunners during which they did not see a single defeat on their way to the Premier League trophy.

Cole was one of the heroes for Arsenal in that season. He regularly showed up in the left side of defence and did an incredible job for Arsene Wenger, the manager.

Cole was one of the heroes for Arsenal in that season. He regularly showed up in the left side of defence and did an incredible job for Arsene Wenger, the manager.

So, for him to contribute to that book was important, but, the 35-year old Englishman, who is playing his Football in Italy now, did not take that much interest in it.

Cole’s past association with the rival club Chelsea might have been the reason why he did not feature.

Cole is one of the rarest of players who has played for both the top London clubs in his career i.e. Arsenal and Chelsea.
The defender might have feared that his appearance there in that book would result in his Chelsea fans lashing out at him.

On a social networking site last week, Cole tried to hint that he did not want any of his fans to be disappointed and thus, he did not get into it.

In the words of Cole, “I have been getting questioned about my absence from the Arsenal book. It was my personal decision which I made keeping my fans in mind.”

“But, I would definitely mention that I always cherish the moments I spent with the Gunners. There were some really awesome guys over there during my time and it was fun being amongst them.”

Cole played 156 Premier League matches for Arsenal between 1998 and 2006.

As.Roma’s Ashley Cole is rumored to be a target of New York City FC as the English defender could be re-joining Frank Lampard and playing together once more after having performer alongside each other at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea.

After having spent over 5 years as a player of Chelsea, Ashley Cole joined the Italian side As.Roma a few months ago on July and his career in Italy has had its ups and downs.

When playing in their Champions League match against Bayern Munich, the German club ran past As.Roma and claimed an overwhelming 7-1 victory and Ashley Cole was considered to be the worst player on the pitch as the English defender was unable to keep up with Arjen Robben who managed to score twice as well as was able to provide an assist for his teammate Franck Ribery. It was a match to forget for As.Roma but especially for Ashley Cole as the defender even had to be substituted in the 2nd half of the match.

Ashley Cole has been able to make a few good performances with As.Roma in the Italian League, Serie A but it remains unsure as if the Italian club is interested in keeping him for the next 2 years which was what Cole signed when joining the team.

Ashley Cole reveals sacking of Andre Villas-Boas

Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has revealed the truth behind the sacking of manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has revealed the truth behind the sacking of manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The Portuguese manager lasted only nine months at Stamford Bridge before he was replaced by Roberto di Matteo, who went on to win the Champions League in the same year. Villas-Boas was regarded as a bright prospect at the time of becoming a Chelsea boss. However, things soon turned ugly for the Portuguese after a bad run of results left the club fighting for a top four place. Cole, who has since moved to Roma on a free transfer in the summer, says that some Chelsea players were guilty of not working hard under Andre Villas-Boas.

It is a long-held belief that Villas-Boas tried to change things a little too soon, as the likes of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba were put on the fringes of the first-team. Cole also found limited playtime during the regime of Villas-Boas, but soon returned to first team after Di Matteo was put in charge. Unsurprisingly, Cole played a vital part in Chelsea’s Champions League success that campaign. Even though he has found a new home at Roma, the 33-year-old continues to be linked with clubs from abroad like New York City FC.

Even after his poor performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Roma coach Rudi Garcia has backed Cole to be a success. “There were some players who didn’t want to work hard for Villas-Boas. But as soon as [Roberto] Di Matteo arrived, that all changed,” said Cole. He also said that former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson remains his favourite boss.”Eriksson allowed us to be ourselves. We enjoyed playing for England under him.At the time, the English media made us out to be the best in the world, but we rarely really were and that put us under excessive pressure,” said Cole.

Poyet wants players to aim higher

Sunderland went through their 3rd consecutive Premier League after facing Swansea City with the game that ended with neither teams being able to score a single goal throughout the entire match. The team of Gus Poyet has played 6 Premier League matches and has tied 5 a total of games but the coach of Sunderland wants his squad of players to not settle with a simple draw and wants them to aim higher by collecting more points in each match.

The team of Gus Poyet has played 6 Premier League matches and has tied 5 a total of games but the coach of Sunderland wants his squad of players to not settle with a simple draw and wants them to aim higher by collecting more points in each match.
Gus Poyet said: “I said to them before coming here, ‘we’re playing okay’. But okay is not good enough in the Premier League. You need to be better than okay. One point a game will get us 38 points. You cannot just be okay. You are going to get punished. I think if we had been a little bit better this was a great opportunity for three points and we missed it.”
The Premier League club which is currently being guided by Gus Poyet went through a scare in the last season as they just barely managed to escape the bottom relegation zone and Poyet does not want to have to go through another season of frights. The English manager is hoping that his team can start collecting more points and climb a few spots in the Premier League.
Sunderland experienced undergoing a goal-less draw with Burnley and 7 days later another goal-less draw but this time around against Swansea City. The side of Gus Poyet is struggling trying to score goals in this start of the season and reports emerged claiming that Sunderland could be signing free agent before the January transfer window but Poyet has shut down those claims by telling reporters that he isn’t interested or looking around for potential new players at least not until January.

Ferdinand Claims He Does Not Plan To Follow In Cole’s Footsteps

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has claimed that he does not plan to follow in the footsteps of former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole, who recently joined Italian club Roma on a two-year contract. Regarded as one of the best left backs in the world, Chelsea decided not to extend the contract of the 33-year-old as he was coming to the end of his career. It was widely speculated that Cole would be joining a club in the MLS or Middle East. However, he surprised everyone by staying in one of top European leagues after signing for Roma.

Ferdinand is also available on a free transfer after leaving United at the end of last season. He is reportedly discussing terms with QPR over the possibility of agreeing a short-term contract in a bid to extend his career. However, there have also been rumours that he could retire from football and concentrate on his business whereas he also is on the wish list of several Middle Eastern clubs. Ferdinand has confirmed that he plans to carry on playing despite being not wanted at United, while he also confirmed that he does not want to spend his last few years playing in a non-competitive league.
These suggest that the 35-year-old could sign a new deal with QPR in the next few days. “Not really no. My family want to get settled and have a base and that’s in London. I’m a London boy at heart so I’m happy to be back in London. This year I’d love to play as many games as I can and then you take stock at the end of the season and see where you’re at. I’ve done that for the last few seasons anyway. I don’t think I’ve got anything to prove to anyone,” said the defender.

Lloris could still be sold, despite claims to stay.

Although Hugo Lloris has said that he is not going anywhere away from Tottenham Hotspur, but, everybody has the idea that in professional soccer, the statements made by the players and the officials don’t always point towards the actual scenario. Things can be very different from what has been said.

Lloris is optimistic about his stay at White Hart Lane purely because of the no. of years that is still remaining for his contract to finish. But, there is every possibility that he would be sold if somebody comes with an extremely high bid.

The thing which needs to be discussed is that how Tottenham would be affected in case Lloris takes an away transfer.

Tottenham missed out on European football last season. They would definitely want to qualify this time around and for that, they would need the services of seasoned players and Lloris can be included in that category.

Having played in Ligue 1 for quite a few years and then, in the Premier League for the last couple of seasons, the 27-year old is the man to have gained the experience. Now is the time for him to peak and at such a time, to let him go, would not be that smart on part of the new management team of the Spurs.

In the last 6-7 years, Tottenham has always lost a peaking player before the start of the season. For example, it was Gareth Bale last season.

This season, so far, there hasn’t been anyone whose departure would have left the fans disappointed. But, there is a lot of action remaining in the summer window. It’s after the World Cup that the transfer activities would be in full flow.

But, one thing is for certain, if the Spurs sell Lloris, it would cost them dearly.

Mourinho to talk to Ashley Cole

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will indeed speak to left back Ashley Cole whose contract at the club is set to expire at the end of the month.

Cole played just seventeen matches for the club last term – his lowest ever total for a single season at the club – with Spanish wing back Cesar Azpilicueta keeping the former England man confined to the bench for the majority of the season.

Cole played just seventeen matches for the club last term – his lowest ever total for a single season at the club – with Spanish wing back Cesar Azpilicueta keeping the former England man confined to the bench for the majority of the season.

Cole was left in tears following the club’s last game at home at Stamford Bridge and wrote on Twitter that he expects that to be his last ever game for the club in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful and said that he was most likely to leave the club and was weighing up his options for the future.

Veteran defender and former England captain John Terry has signed a new one year contract extension at the club but another former England team mate Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard has been allowed to leave the club on a free transfer after thirteen years at the club.

And the Portuguese manager has insisted that the situation with Cole is different to that of Lampard. He said that he got the chance to speak about the future with Lampard a couple of weeks before the Premier League ended but he didn’t get that opportunity with Cole.

He added that these are different situations and he will see what happens.

Cole has no dearth of suitors for his signature with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool all keen on signing the former England left back.

But Ashley Cole, who is currently on vacation in the United States of America has said that he is yet to make up his mind regarding the future and will decide when he returns.

Mourinho Refuses Ruling Out Col Extension

Chelsea manager José Mourinho has refused to rule out the possibility of Ashley Cole extending his contract with the club. He is one of three players at Chelsea with only a few weeks remaining on their contracts. Frank Lampard and John Terry are the other two players. These three have been very crucial to the success Chelsea have enjoyed in the last decade. Losing their experience within the team will be a major blow. Combined together, they have made more than 1000 appearances for the club. John Terry alone has 621 appearances for the club since making the debut in 1998.

Cole has been a Chelsea player since his £ 5 million move from Arsenal in 2006. He has won every possible trophy with the club during this period. The Champions League title was the only thing missing from his cabinet and this was added after remarkable win in 2012. The defender has been linked with a move to the MLS in the last few months. He has been getting very little first-team action with Chelsea in the second half of the season. Despite this, Mourinho has stated that the appearance of Cole in the final match of the season against Cardiff may not be his last for the club.

“I don’t know but I don’t think so. I do my written reports to the board during the season and with the final report at the end where I try to have my point of view, analysing every aspect of the season,” said Mourinho speaking ahead of the Cardiff match. This has been a disappointing season for Chelsea even with the arrival of Mourinho. The club, though, reached the semifinals of the Champions League where they were beaten by Atletico Madrid. The club are also set to finish third in the league table.
