Cole’s form of late has been quite poor and he hasn’t been named even in the match day squads of Chelsea in some of their recent games.

Chelsea has to play a couple of games this week and Cole is expected to be given a playing opportunity in one of those two games, probably in the game against Stoke City which is going to be played on Saturday. If he gets the opportunity, that will be his first appearance for the Blues in the last 4 weeks. The last time that he had featured for Chelsea was on 2nd of last month in the game against Newcastle United

Cole has struggled a bit with his fitness too in the last few weeks. Because of his rib injury, he couldn’t feature for the Three Lions in their last couple of World Cup qualifying games against Poland and Montenegro. He did make an appearance for England in the friendly game against Germany a few days back and ended up aggravating his rib problem in that match.

Talking to the reporters yesterday, Cole said, “I have always been given a lot of support here at Chelsea and I hope I continue getting the same kind of support in future as well. I think I can still give a lot to the side.”

Cole had been brought at Stamford Bridge 7 years back in 2006. He has so far played more than 200 Premier League matches for the Blues and has scored 7 goals in those matches.

HAZARD BACKS CHELSEA

Manchester City has to face Chelsea in an away Premier League game this weekend and they might have to go into such a vital game without their skipper Vincent Kompany.

Kompany has not completely recovered from his groin injury because of which he has been out of action since the last 20 days or so. However, his fitness is still being assessed and it hasn’t been officially announced that he would not be playing in that Chelsea game.

Kompany has not completely recovered from his groin injury because of which he has been out of action since the last 20 days or so. However, his fitness is still being assessed and it hasn’t been officially announced that he would not be playing in that Chelsea game.

The Chelsea winger and Kompany’s countryman, Eden Hazard, has said that if Kompany doesn’t manage to get fit in time, it’s going to weaken the City squad significantly. Chelsea are currently slim favourites on Unibet, the sportbet specialists.

Talking to the reporters yesterday, Hazard said, “Vincent is a vital part of City squad. Whenever he features for them, they generally end up on the winning side.”

“We all know how capable he is as a player and I consider myself lucky that I play alongside him in the Belgian team. You don’t want to be playing against such kind of players.”

However, Hazard also said that his team has got the ability to get better of City in Kompany’s presence as well.

The 22 years old Belgian winger said, “Our recent form has been pretty good. In the last couple of games, we have shown great temperament and hopefully, we will be able to continue the good work when we take on City this weekend.”

When asked about his experience of playing under the new manager Jose Mourinho so far, Hazard said, “He is immensely experienced and the young guys like me are extremely fortunate to have him as boss.”

“We are slowly settling down under him. He is a bit creative in his strategies and we are learning a lot from him.”

COLE RULED OUT

Ashley Cole might not be able to feature for England in their upcoming two World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland respectively as he discovered a rib injury while playing for his club Chelsea in the match against Norwich City yesterday.

Cole was taken off in the 75th minute of the match against Norwich and at that point of time, he didn’t seem to be injured. His substitution was seen as a tactical ploy by the Chelsea management, but, talking to the reporters in the post match press conference, the Blues manager Jose Mourinho disclosed that Cole has complained of pain in his ribs and he will have a scan when the team returns to London.

Mourinho said, “When I took him off, I was not aware of his problem. I got to know about that later on.”

“His injury will be assessed when the team reaches London. A scan will make things clear. Hopefully, that’s a minor problem and he will not have to miss too many games.”

“I really want the English team to put up a good show in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. So, I am hoping that Ashley is 100% fit.”

England will first face Montenegro on the 11th of this month and then, will take on Poland on 15th. Both the games will be played at the Wembley Stadium.

Almost all the regular players of the English side are fit for those two games. The only two guys who are unlikely to feature are Arsenal’s Theo Walcott who is suffering from stomach problem and Cole who injured his ribs yesterday.

England is at the top position in the Group H points table at the moment. They have won 4 out of their 8 games so far.

According to many football writers, critics, fans as well as his fellow professionals, Cole is seen as one of the best left backs of his generation and is seen as an able protégé for the Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos who made the term ‘marauding wing back’ a reality in modern football.

Cole spent his youth career at North London side Arsenal before being handed his debut by manager Arsene Wenger when he turned 18 years old in 1998. He spent the 1999/2000 season on loan at another London club Crystal Palace where he was seen as one of the stars of a struggling side and when he returned from his successful loan spell, he immediately nailed down a first team spot at Arsenal going on to make over 150 league appearances for the North London side.

Ashley Cole was part of the famous ‘Invincible’ side of the club that went an entire league season unbeaten and he finished with two Premier League and three FA Cup titles under his belt with the Gunners. During the summer of 2006, according to the football blog, Cole made a highly controversial and protracted transfer deal to London rivals Chelsea and he has had unprecedented success at the club since then, leading them to four FA Cup titles, a Premier League title as well as one UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League title.

Having made his debut with the England national team in 2001, Ashley Cole has gone on to make 103 appearances for the Three Lions and has represented the team in three FIFA World Cups and two European Championships as well, adding to his already glittering CV as a professional.

CECH BACKS MOURINHO

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is regarded as one of the best in the Premier league, and he is right up there when it comes to the best in the world as well. He was one of the first signings made by Chelsea manager José Mourinho when he took charge of the club in his first spell.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is regarded as one of the best in the Premier league, and he is right up there when it comes to the best in the world as well. He was one of the first signings made by Chelsea manager José Mourinho when he took charge of the club in his first spell.

The Czech Republic goalkeeper was in his early 20s back then, but it did not stop him from establishing himself in the Chelsea first-team ahead of the much experienced Carlo Cudicini. After having made numerous appearances for Chelsea and having won several trophies including the Champions league, Cech has said that he is grateful to Mourinho.

The 31-year-old will be once again working with the Portuguese manager after he arrived for a second spell in charge of the club a few weeks back. Mourinho’s confidence in Cech has resulted in the Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois going back to Atletico Madrid on yet another loan deal.

Chelsea signed the Belgian as a replacement for Cech, but he is yet to play a game for Chelsea after spending the last two seasons on loan at the Spanish club. He will be spending a third season at the club now.

Cech has also captained Chelsea on several occasions as well.
“With Jose I only have great memories. He gave me the chance to be the number one at Chelsea. I was 22 joining a big club [from Rennes] where Carlo Cudicini was first-choice, a player who had the most clean sheets the previous season. You think, ‘Well, if the new manager comes in and just picks him then I’m dead.’ That was the challenge. But he gave me the opportunity to start and show what I could do, and that is when my career kicked on,” said Cech.

The popularity of the Premier League

Back in the 1980s few people would have predicted that football would not just remain one of the most popular leisure activities into the digital era, but would actually grow in popularity throughout this time.

Back then the game was bedevilled with problems, with violence between fans and disasters such as Heysel and Hillsborough, which meant that the game had a pretty low reputation and crowds at the matches appeared to be irrevocably in decline. So how has football recovered to the extent that it is now one of the biggest entertainment industries in the world?

So how has football recovered to the extent that it is now one of the biggest entertainment industries in the world?

Well the arrival of the English Premier League in 1992, thanks to a breakaway by the clubs that made up the old First Division of the Football League has led to an influx of money and top foreign players into the English game. This, coupled with the deal with Sky television to broadcast matches live on a regular basis has provided clubs with the financial muscle to build all-seater stadiums – meaning the match day experience is now a great deal safer than it was for those actually attending the games, while also ensuring that the league now has a global audience base.

This greater financial leverage is key, because the better stadiums and players have been central to enabling football to compete with modern day forms of entertainment such as the casino games offered by online casino sites like the LuckyNuggetCasino.com – indeed these sites have been quick to recognise the appeal of football and provide betting opportunities. During pre-season there isn’t always too much football going on and so, having realised that the online bookmakers’ may have left a little void here, the online casinos such as Lucky Nugget developed football themed slots games to cater for this.

With the slots games, that you can either play for free or for real money, the online casinos have helped to ensure that football has grown bigger than ever during the digital era, while other forms of entertainment – such as the film and music industry – are struggling to remain viable in the face of the wider and more sophisticated options available to people now.

Ashley Cole will not be able to play for Chelsea for the next couple of weeks because of a hamstring injury that he discovered while playing in the FA Cup quarter final match against Manchester United which was played on Monday at Stamford Bridge.

Cole left the ground in the 21st minute of the match. He will sit on the sidelines in the Europa League match against Rubin Kazan and in the Premier League match against Sunderland. He might also miss the FA cup final 4 match against Manchester City. That match will be played on 14th of April and Cole’s chances of getting fit till then are not great.

However, despite losing Cole so early, the Blues put up a fine performance against United. They won that match by 1-0. The only goal in the match was scored by Demba Ba.

Talking to the reporters after the match against United, the Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez said, “Ashley has injured his hamstring and he will be out for at least 15 days. We were already without Gary Cahill and now, Ashley’s injury has weakened our defense even more.”

Because of his injury, Gary Cahill had not played for his national side England in the two world cup qualifying matches in March and he was not a part of the Blues squad for the previous game against Southampton FC which Chelsea had lost by 1-2. According to Benitez, Cahill needs a couple of more weeks to recover completely.

When asked about the performance of his team against Manchester United, Benitez said, “We were superb today. A couple of our key players were not playing and the opposition was very strong. But, we didn’t get nervous and pulled it off. I am really satisfied with the effort of the boys.”

Brentford vs Chelsea Preview

Defender Scott Bidwell is suspended, though Scott Barron and Harry Forrester are set to return to the starting line-up.
Top scorer Clayton Donaldson has fifteen for the season, and is generously priced at 12.0 (11/1) to grab the first goal of the game.

The home win is widely available at 12.0 (11/1), with Chelsea odds on at 1.3 (3/10). You can get a price of 6.0 (5/1) for the game to go to a replay.

Chelsea go in to the game on the back of a 0-0 draw in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final with Swansea, a result which saw the eliminated from the competition.

With this one of just two competitions the club can realistically aim for this season, Rafa Benitez is expected to name a strong side, though David Luiz is out injured, and Eden Hazard begins a three match suspension.

Demba Ba scored twice on his debut in the third round win at Southampton earlier in the month, and is 4.0 (3/1) with Paddy Power to open the scoring.

BENAYOUN RETURNS

The Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun will be joining Chelsea once his loan spell with West Ham comes to an end next week according to the West Ham manager Sam Allardyce.

The Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun will be joining Chelsea once his loan spell with West Ham comes to an end next week according to the West Ham manager Sam Allardyce.

Chelsea allowed the Israeli midfielder to join the London club in the summer due to the intense competition for places. It was widely expected that Benayoun could be sold in the summer after spending the last season on loan at Arsenal. However, he was unable to seal a transfer before the end of the season. As a result, Chelsea loaned him out for West Ham United. Now, the loan deal set to expire and the midfielder will be returning to Stamford Bridge.

This is the second spell at Upton Park for the midfielder, whose best years at the club were responsible for securing a move to Liverpool. Incidentally, Rafa Benitez was the manager of Liverpool when Benayoun moved to the club. He will be hoping to take advantage of the presence of the Spaniard at Stamford Bridge when he returns to Chelsea. The former Liverpool manager was recently appointed as the successor to Roberto di Matteo, and he has had an impressive run of results in recent weeks. The departure of John obi Mikel and Victor Moses for the African cup of nations will provide Benayoun with enough opportunities.

“Recovering slowly from the injury..loan with west ham will be finish in few days so disappointed that I didn’t took part in the last games,” said the midfielder on his Twitter account. It is expected that he will recover from his injury problems in the next few days, which will enable Chelsea to take advantage of his presence. Benayoun had an incredible partnership with Fernando Torres during his Liverpool days. He will be hoping to strike the same at Chelsea as well.

NEW CONTRACT

The former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has said that the European champions Chelsea should waste no time in offering a new contract for the start defender Ashley Cole, who has only a few months left on his current deal.

It is thought that the club are not willing to offer more than a one-year extension to the 31-year-old. The club has a policy of not offering more than a year contract for players over the age of 30. Due to the fact that Ashley Cole falls within this bracket, they have decided not to change the policy for the former Arsenal left back.

Due to the fact that Ashley Cole falls within this bracket, they have decided not to change the policy for the former Arsenal left back.

Due to the reported interest from several clubs like the French PSG, it is thought that the player is considering his future at the club. The former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink, who was incredibly successful during his late 30s for the club, has said that Ashley Cole might be 31 years of age, but he still one of the best left backs in the world. Due to his incredible professionalism, he has the capability to carry on playing for many years from now according to the striker. Another player whose future also is in doubt is the 34-year-old Frank Lampard, who has been at the club since 2001.

“With Cole, I don’t understand why they’re not offering him a two or three-year deal. Yes, he’s in his 30s, but he’s still very fit. On top of that, he is still the best left-back in the country — maybe even the world. It’s not going to be easy to replace him or even find someone capable of doing it. He plays the majority of games and is almost never injured, so why not give him a longer contract?” said Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Cole recently won the Champions League with Chelsea.
