COLE MIGHT MOVE

Controversial Chelsea Football Club and England international left back Ashley Cole is eyeing a summer move away from Stamford Bridge with Barcelona his likely destination.

Cole, who had a highly controversial move to Chelsea from London rivals Arsenal which saw The Gunners file a report “of tapping up their player against Chelsea” to FIFA is currently one of those senior figures in The Pensioners’ squad who manager Andre Villas Boas has termed as the weak link of the side and if the reports that are emerging from sources all over are to be considered, Cole, Lampard and Terry are some of those senior players who are already trying to stamp their authority in the club ahead of their manager.

Reports of tension in the Chelsea camp between the manager and some senior figures like Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole had been emerging in the tabloids for some time now and the tip of the iceberg was reached when Villas Boas dropped both Lampard and Cole from the starting lineup during their UEFA Champions League match against Napoli, which they lost 3-1 at the San Paolo.

Although Cole did come on in the first half as a forced substitution, Lampard was not brought on until after the 60 minute mark and almost all the senior players in the side were displeased at the way Villas Boas is trying to drive them out of the club.

European champions Barcelona are on the lookout for a new left back with Eric Abidal almost certain to leave the side and Ashley Cole, who was given the name “Cash-ley” by the Arsenal fans after he swapped sides for the money is almost to certain to raise his hands and issue a “come and get me plea” to Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola, who is a known admirer of the wing back.
